Keynote Speakers

At Equip Conference 2025 we will be studying the Psalms and the gospel of Matthew. We are excited to have Vaughan Roberts, Murray Capill, William H.C. and James de Costobadie, opening God’s Word with us in our main sessions, and many others teaching in seminars and strand groups.

Vaughan Roberts

After studying law at Cambridge University and a brief spell doing student ministry in South Africa, Vaughan moved to Oxford to study Theology at Wycliffe Hall. Vaughan is the Senior Pastor at St Ebbe’s Church in Oxford in the UK and was also the Director of the Proclamation Trust, an organisation that encourages and equips Bible teachers.

Vaughan will be speaking from the Psalms at Equip North and Equip South in 2025.

Murray Capill

Murray Capill grew up in Christchurch and later was pastor of a church in Auckland for 10 years. For the last 23 years he has lived in Australia where he has been a pastor, lecturer and theological college principal. He works at Reformed Theological College in Melbourne, helping train and equip future pastors, preachers and gospel workers. Murray is married to Wendy and they have five married children. After-hours you’ll find him in the great outdoors, doing jobs round home, enjoying a coffee, or hanging out with the grandkids.

Murray is speaking from the gospel of Matthew at Equip Central and Equip South in 2025.

William H.C.

William H. C. (張偉亮牧師) was born in Malaysia, grew up in Auckland, completed theological studies in Sydney, and now serves as English Pastor at Pakūranga Chinese Baptist Church (東區華人浸信會) in Auckland, New Zealand. He was first introduced to Jesus in high school when someone took the time to sit down with him and explain the good news of Jesus. He is a happy Equip Conference “graduate" and regularly speaks at Carey Baptist College and for other churches in Auckland. When not crossing cultures in his own church and family, he also writes for Christianity Today and other publications to help men and women find wisdom and joy in Jesus. William is married to Cheryl and they have five children. In his spare time, he enjoys cycling with his kids, working on his crusty Chinese, and complaining about Arsenal.

William is speaking from the gospel of Matthew at Equip North in 2025.

James de Costobadie (Costa)

Costa came to know Christ aged 19 when he was prodded to think about Jesus by the only Christian he knew. He and his wife Teresa came to NZ from the UK in 2005 and are grateful to God for their 3 Kiwi children born since. He loves his family and Christ's family, and enjoys playing cricket and reading history books, but still gains most delight when people come to know Christ as their Lord and Saviour.

Costa will be speaking from the book of Psalms at Equip Central in 2025.
